Creating Seasonal and Limited-Series Podcasts

seasonal podcast, limited series podcast

Seasonal and limited-series podcasts are a great way to experiment with new content and reach a new audience. They can also be a great way to monetize your podcast, as listeners may be more likely to subscribe to a podcast that is only available for a limited time. Check out my previous blog post about monetization!!!

What is a seasonal podcast?

A seasonal podcast is a podcast that is released in seasons, with each season focusing on a different topic or story. Seasonal podcasts are often released on a weekly or biweekly basis, and they can last anywhere from a few episodes to a few dozen episodes.

What is a limited-series podcast?

A limited-series podcast is a podcast that has a predetermined number of episodes. Limited-series podcasts are often released on a weekly or biweekly basis, and they typically last anywhere from a few episodes to a dozen episodes. They are focused on a one-time topic. A great example of this might be the radio show Coast to Coast AM (the Bigfoot UFO show). Once a year (Halloween) they have a night called Ghost to Ghost in which they focus solely (pun intended) on ghost stories.

Benefits of creating seasonal and limited-series podcasts

There are a number of benefits to creating seasonal and limited-series podcasts, including:

  • They allow you to experiment with new content. Seasonal and limited-series podcasts give you the opportunity to experiment with new content formats, topics, and styles. This can help you to find what works best for you and your audience. If it doesn’t work or you don’t like how it comes out-no worries, but you tried it!

  • They can help you reach a new audience. Seasonal and limited-series podcasts can help you reach a new audience by attracting listeners who are interested in the specific topic or story that you are covering. Here again…that most famous word: Niche.

  • They can be more monetizable. Listeners may be more likely to subscribe to a podcast that is only available for a limited time. This means that you may be able to generate more revenue from a seasonal or limited-series podcast than you would from a regular podcast. Take a look at my previous blog post about monetizing your catalog.

Tips for creating successful seasonal and limited-series podcasts

Here are a few tips for creating successful seasonal and limited-series podcasts:

  • Choose a topic or story that you are passionate about. This will make it easier for you to create engaging and informative content. If you are not enthusiastic about it, how do you expect your audience to get behind it? hmm?

  • Plan your season or series in advance. This will help you to stay on track and ensure that your content is cohesive. An outline or clear-cut roadmap can help keep you organized and on track.

  • Promote your season or series before it launches. This will help to build excitement and anticipation among your listeners. If you have a budget, buy some ads, and get your friends and family to post about it. You gotta let people know that this next seasonal or limited edition is going to blow their minds!

  • Release your episodes on a regular schedule. This will keep your listeners engaged and coming back for more. Just like your normal podcast, consistency is key.

  • Interact with your audience on social media. Respond to comments and questions, and ask for feedback. This will help you to build relationships with your listeners and create a more engaged community. Audience engagement keeps you on your toes as well as your audience. You are creating a conversation not just an answer. Don’t forget to leave them with an open-ended question that they feel they are compelled to answer!
